Midwest Regional Singles Conference (continued)

On Saturday morning, I had breakfast and then went to the first morning session. It was on "A Single's best friend: Jesus", with Nancy Honeytree as the speaker. It was held in the Back 40 meeting room. The session was really interesting. Honeytree shared her own personal testimony and how Jesus can be our best friend. It was really fun! I also had the opportunity to be right in the first row.

The second morning session was in the same place with Honeytree speaking on "Purify My Heart".

In the afternoon, there were two sessions.

The first afternoon session was with Jean Coleman on "Enlarging Your Vision" in the camp tabernacle.

The second afternoon session was in the camp tabernacle, too. It was concerning "overcoming Inferiority" with Marilyn Edgeley. Marilyn is a very energetic, bubbly, exciting type of person. She is single and has not only a teaching ministry but also sings. She had a good message. I ordered the tape. This session is where I also ushered.

In the evening service, Paul Johansson shared on "the battle within". It was a dynamic service. At the end of the service, I had a chance to go to the front with the other ushers and also pray for a young woman. That was quite an experience!

Afterwards, we all went to the lodge for a time of fellowship, snacks, and entertainment. It was quite a day!

On Sunday morning, I woke up, took a shower, ate breakfast, then went to the camp tabernacle for the closing service with Mike Cavanaugh. After the service, I went to the lodge and had dinner. After that, the girls and I left the camp and headed back home for Findlay.

Midwest Regional Singles Conference

On Friday, Aug. 16, 1985 in Angola, Indiana, I attended a singles conference called "Discover God's Plan for your Singleness". I was 34 at the time. The conference was August 16-18, 1985.

On Friday, I got my suitcases packed and was out at Hope Temple (the church I was attending at the time) by 1 pm. I left for Indiana with my friends, Mary Seibert, Bev Mishler, Barb Ferrance, and Nancy Hermon. When we got there and had registered, we went to a Mexican restaurant named Carouso's for dinner. The food was good and we had a good time. The service that night was with Paul Johansson on "Preparing for Battle". Went to a coffeehouse afterwards.

The dorm I was staying in was called Metzger. It was very close to the camp tabernacle. My roomate's name was Joe Greene. I met alot of new people during the weekend. The whole conference was a really inspiring and life changing experience. I really enjoyed meeting other people. Everyone was really friendly. I met some very interesting people. One person I met was named Rose. She wasn't all that pretty, but she and I hit it off pretty well. I met her Sunday morning at the lodge dining hall at breakfast. She and some others were from Pastor Ernie Weaver's church. She had a nice personality and communicated well. She was a secretary. Some of the other things I enjoyed were the coffeehouse sessions. The fellowship was good and the talent was good, too.

Past Memories: July 4, 1985

Today was a good day. I turned 34 yrs. old today. I got some nice presents. July 4th is my birthday.

The Lord showed me some things concerning true love. My love should not be possesive.

I saw an interesting drama on WTLW-TV 44 called "Let Freedom Ring". I really enjoyed the music and the drama. I watched some of the show, "Turning Point", also.

On the 700 Club, I learned more on the Freedom Council. In the early morning hours of July 5th, I became a member of the Freedom Council. I remember having trouble sleeping that night.

First Day of Journal

Today is the first day of my new journal.
Below are some pictures of me through my life. Understand, I'm 52. I was born on July 4, 1951. That may explain why some of the pictures look like they do.
I was born into a Catholic family in northwest Ohio. Dad was a Real Estate man. Had his own Real Estate office. Self-employed. Mom was a housewife. She gave birth to 10 kids. 7 girls and 3 boys. I was #5. I wasn't too big when I was born. Maybe about 3 lbs. I was born too early. I was supposed to be born in Sept. 1951.
Today I talked to my friend Courtney by instant message and watched some basketball on tv.
